Die Regeln

General

  • No major godmodding or forcing.

  • Open to non-mutuals and crossovers

  • IC =/= OOC

  • I try to avoid dash drama, anon hate, callouts, etc. like the plague. But please talk to me personally if something is wrong so we can handle it maturely.

  • My IMs are always open. If you need to talk to me about anything, good or bad, just send a message.

  • I’m pretty chill. It’s okay if these get broken on accident. Just be willing to listen to me if something serious pops up, please. I trust you.

Writing

  • Life happens, so I reply when I can reply. It’s usually based on inspiration or time available.

  • I use a tracker and will get back to old stuff as I can.

  • You can ask about replies though, especially if you’re really eager for something. You having a strong interest will probably make me want to reply sooner.

  • I prefer para/lit over script, and generally don’t do one-liners. I like my descriptions and inner thoughts.

  • I prefer pre-established relationships and plotting for big threads, but sporadic things and memes are fun too!

  • If brand new to me, I would like to do a little behind-the-scenes work first, to get an idea of where to go.

  • Format/Icon to your heart’s content, but please keep it legible and avoid really tiny fonts. If I can’t read, I can’t respond.

  • IMPORTANT: Lily and Alex are both characters who have had a whole lifetime of reading, understanding, and manipulating people. This can be for good or for bad. But when it comes to making this work for rp, I will need to ask a lot of questions to make sure I’m giving them accurate thoughts about your characters. Please be prepared for me to possibly pester you with a bunch of questions before I can reply to things.

  • IMPORTANT: Threads that develop into major conflicts, especially ones that can result in serious injury, death, or major relationship changes, will require good, open, and honest discussion between the writers. We both need to be okay with the direction it’s going in, especially if the consequences will last outside of the thread or affect things with other people’s characters. We both reserve the right to alter, drop, delete, and consider non-canon if we don’t like where it’s going.

  • IMPORTANT: Characters vent to each other and get others involved and that’s fun and cool. It’s also fine for characters to have misconceptions and false/negative ideas about each other. But if your character is going to spread serious false ideas about mine (either from a misunderstanding, personal bias, or just plain false accusations), please run it by me real quick. I’ll usually say yes. But there are some things that I do NOT ever want associated with them, and which they would NEVER do: rape/sexual assault, Nazism, harm to children. (List is not exhaustive. I will add more as needed and expect them to be respected.)

Shipping

  • Shipping is typically based on chemistry, but I am up to doing plotted ones, messy ones, things based on history/politics, etc.

  • Mult-ship/Multi-verse; No cheating is going on

  • I don’t do explicit smut, but lighter sexual themes, jokes, innuendos, etc. are fine. Fade to black will be used if sex happens in an rp.

  • Absolutely NO shipping with underage muns or muses

  • Alex is the sort of character who doesn't really go for genuine relationships. We can discuss shipping, but please understand upfront that he will be more difficult to make ships for.

Triggers and Sensitive Topics

  • Please tag NSFW with a consistent tag

  • Please do not send me NSFW asks or tag me in NSFW things without asking first.

  • I don’t have triggers that need tagging but do reserve the right to back out if a topic becomes too much. Obviously this goes both ways.

  • Heavy and dark topics may be present at times (examples: violence, torture, abuse, etc.). I will ask my partner first before putting them in an rp, so as not to spring them on you. I will do my best to put warnings and tags on posts. My tagging system is the following:

  • tw trigger (example: tw spider)

  • If you need a specific tag then please ask.

  • I do read everyone’s rules, but my mind isn’t perfect (especially these days). If I miss a tag, overstep a boundary, or otherwise make you uncomfortable, please talk to me privately. It is only out of ignorance or forgetfulness, never malice. I will fix things as best I can.

  • If a thread deals with heavy topics, we need to be in constant discussion to make sure we’re respecting each other’s boundaries.

  • I may prefer to rp certain things in private on discord. This is a case-by-case basis.

For Funsies (Thanks for making it this far!)

Thanks for reading all this! I hope we can have lots of fun writing together. If you’re wondering what to rp with me, the following are things I enjoy the most (though honestly I’m pretty open to almost anything). You can also look at my wishlist tag ( RP Wishlist ).

  • Spy stuff

  • Historical (Cold War) and some politics

  • Action/Adventure

  • Good character or relationship building

On East Berlin

To describe East Berlin in a few words is not as simple as it seems. Though many, especially those from the Western (America/NATO) countries, may see it just as the city-state behind the Wall, the capital of East Germany, that half of Germany with cardboard cars and secret police, there was more to it than just that. To think of it so simply is unfair. Really, I have found, throughout my reading, that East Berlin (and the GDR in general) is almost a paradox. This was a city-state that rose up from the ruins of a World War, just to find itself at the forefront of a Cold one. It was a city-state where no one was "unemployed," and everyone was equal, but everyone was also under heavy surveillance and scrutiny by the state (who, funnily enough, were under surveillance as well). This capital boasted one of the best economies in the Communist bloc, yet just over the Wall was a city-state with an even better economy with nicer goods for its consumers. Everyone was equal, but those with connections and enough cash could get these Western goods that their neighbors only dreamed of. To satisfy the desires of the people, the country strove to create its own versions, though, like a Trabi next to a Mercedes Benz, they often paled in comparison. But it was not just a dull, grey, concrete block with nothing but high-rises and green-clad Stasi snooping about. While there are those who are remembered for their struggles against the state and their attempts to escape, and while there are also those who will forever be infamous for abuses of power, many of the people managed to get by, and sometimes even thrive, in this environment. While there were those artists who were prohibited from their practice for being outspoken enemies of socialism, there were others who managed to slip under the radar by being more subtle, creating works unique to their environment. This was a world in which everyone was carefully watched, but not everyone followed the rules precisely. And then this world crumbled down with its Wall. But did it really disappear into the dust? On the surface, it seems so. The Stasi have since been disbanded and their files opened, and the SED holds no power. The people in the eastern half of the now unified Germany experience the same rights and enjoy the same products as those in the western half. But to say that the German people are truly unified is a gross overlook. Even now, 25 years after the Mauerfall, there remains a subtle tension between the former "Ossis" and "Wessis." Ostalgia continues to creep around the east, as those from the former GDR seem to forget about the political oppression in favor of remembering those things they now miss from Communist days, such as low to nonexistent unemployment, low living costs, and a sense of security on the streets. Things like Ost-Ampelmännchen, who tell pedestrians in the east when to walk, and Ostalgie magazines like SUPERillu, and products like Spreewald Gherkins, Vita Cola, and Bautz'ner Senf are all reflections of this longing. It is with this information, and more, in mind that I have attempted to create my character. It is important to remember all the facets of history and current culture, both good and bad, well-known and ignored, especially when one creates a character whose very essence is to embody all of them. With all this in mind, please read on.

Biography

Appearance:At only five feet, four inches, and with young looks and a graceful frame, Liliane (or "Lily," as she often goes by) does not immediately appear intimidating, or at all like what one would expect from a city-state that was the centre of one of the most notorious secret police agencies in history. However, if you were to look underneath the clothes, you would find a body that not only speaks of hard, daily training, with well-toned and defined muscles, but also one that has seen harsh discipline, as the still present scars can attest. Despite the clear hardships, however, you will not be met by a cowardly girl, but by a young woman who strives to put pride and dignity, and power, into every step she takes. She may even seem cocky at times, as though she could easily flip you, or like she knows some of your secrets that you only dare to tell your diary. There's a chance that either, or both, of those could be true. What else could be expected from a city-state that used intimidation to keep its citizens in check, while also gathering every detail on them, enough to fill several large files? When she speaks, her voice, though not faint, may seem gentle, even sweet, in a normal situation. Take heed, however, should she start to sound overly, sickly sweet, like a snake whose fangs are just dripping with venom that she can't wait to put into you. When enraged, however, it can easily take on the stereotypical "harsh German" barking that could put a bear in its place. She is not above acting out her threats either, if she deems it worth it. But more on that in the personality section. What is important to take away is that Lily is a woman who, despite her small physical stature and seemingly gentle voice, will almost always be putting off an air of control, and not fear.Occupation:As East Berlin, Lily not only worked alongside Party officials, but in other political and social aspects as well. In particular, she had a preference for working as a Stasi member, and became keen on not only learning all the tricks of the trade, but on teaching and using them as well, when she had the chance. Believing that the success of the GDR depended not only on preventing outside threats from overcoming them, but on preventing internal ones as well, she had little hesitation in spying on or reprimanding "dissident" citizens. There were quite a few days and nights during which she took it upon herself to watch the border as well. However, she also performed "nicer" tasks, like reading complaint letters (hardly a favorite chore though), entertaining foreign guests of the state, trying to improve the lives of the citizens (in approved ways, of course), and, when she had the occasional chance, helping some Thälmann Pioneers learn their songs. After the Wall fell and Reunification was underway, it became obvious to her, of course, that such a life could not be continued. Knowing that the other Berlin would likely regain most of the administration duties, she sought after another job she could take that would still have her in the government, but not competing with the other. Seeing as how some former Stasi members were being taken in by the BND (Germany's Federal Intelligence Service), it seemed a logical choice for her to join as well. With her well-developed talents, and useful immortality, it wasn't hard to convince them to take her, and she's mostly worked there since, helping them re-centralize in Berlin, collecting data for them, and doing other tasks. She does, however, still take part in some civil duties, especially as they pertain to the area she represented or her former citizens. And, at times, she may attend political meetings for the more left parties. She may also help out during large events that Berlin holds, or help in maintaining security.Personality:When you first meet Lily, you will likely find yourself greeted by a firm handshake and polite smile, along with any customary pleasantries. You may think you are meeting a pleasant, charming, innocent young woman who wouldn't harm anyone. It is a façade though. Already, from the moment you have walked up, she has been assessing you, and determining how best to act around you to get what she wants. She has been determining the best compliments (genuine or not) to give you, the best actions to take to keep you placated (if that is her goal), and how to easily gain the upper hand. She is not always so coolheaded, however. Underneath the gentle smile lies a fiery temper, prepared to strike at almost any offense. Force was one of the tools she, and those around her, used to make secret-keepers squeal and dissidents bow their heads. She knows her strengths, and she will use them; just as well, she knows her weaknesses, and she will seek to hide them. Her goal is to survive and surpass, using whatever means she finds necessary. This is not to say that she is a monster or villain though. If one were to put a simple character label on her, it would probably be a rogue. While she may not be initially prone to altruism towards everyone, she nevertheless finds a few people she cares about. She is also a strong believer in solidarity, and actively seeks to help the vulnerable and endangered segments of society, regardless of borders or politics. To those with whom she has developed a good bond, she remains fiercely loyal. Should she trust them enough, she may even let her guard down and expose the softer creature underneath, with all her thoughts and worries. Like most people, she too wishes to be loved and wanted, but her desire to be the best is just as strong.Ideology:Since about the day she appeared, Lily has basically been spoon-fed Socialism with every meal. She has read the Communist Manifesto multiple times, keeps a bust of Karl Marx, and continues to feel preference towards the more left-leaning parties. Even today, though she may have adopted "Western" goods (a Trabi, after all, is hardly fit for frequent trips or going on the Autobahn), she continues to believe it is the best solution to man's problems. She despises wastefulness, excess materialism, unemployment and class inequality, and the other evils she perceives as stemming from Capitalism. She tends to have a preference for anti-Westernism, especially anti-Americanism, although she doesn't see everything in strict black and white.Religion:Officially, like many socialist countries at the time, the GDR was atheist (though religion was allowed to varying degrees throughout the years.) Being as loyal to the state as she was, Lily adopted atheism as well, using either science or secular philosophy to answer her questions. Religious organizations were often hotspots for dissident opinions as well, which only made her all the more eager to avoid theology. She remains more or less atheist to this day, as nearly 60% of Berlin is non-religious, and the city has been called the "atheist capital of Europe." Due to recent encounters with supernatural beings, including a demon, she has had to question if there might be possibilities for deities or other religious beliefs. She prefers to not think too deeply on it, however, as it may force her to look at herself in ways she'd rather not (thinking about her actions, beliefs, etc.). While she continues to state she does not believe, there is a secret doubt in her mind that she tries to not dwell on.

Additional

Residence:Lily currently lives in a two bedroom apartment in Berlin Mitte. She keeps her living space clean and tidy, though it still has the obvious signs of being occupied by a very busy person. Everything has a place, and dust isn't allowed to settle for long, but there may be a slight untidiness in the busiest areas. Anyone who visits will certainly notice a collection of communist and Cold War memorabilia placed around the home. She sleeps in one bedroom and keeps the other for guests and extra storage for less important items. She also has an office, the door to which is protected by an advanced lock. No one is allowed in, and she almost never opens it in front of others. She refuses to hire anyone like a cleaner due to paranoia that such a person could turn out to be a spy.Lily also owns a dacha, just outside of the city. It’s close enough for weekend visits (usually in the warmer months), but not as a usual residence when having to go to work the next day. It has a small garden and a hazelnut tree (planted in memory of Thomas). This is also where she stores more of her Cold War memorabilia, including her Trabbi. This place is her little refuge from the world, so she is very particular about whom she mentions it to, let alone whom she brings there. As a long time spy, she also has many safe houses around the world. But these change every few years, or whenever compromised.Pets:Kalashnikov (aka Kal): Male Russian Blue cat. Cats may be weird on their own, but Kal seems to take it to a whole new level. He shows intense fondness for Lily, but is generally aloof, or even rude, towards visitors. He often meows in response to whatever Lily says to him, to the point that it seems as though they are carrying on a conversation. He cannot be contained, even by a locked door. He always seems to find his way to wherever he wishes to be. Often, this means staring at visitors with piercing green eyes, that don't just seem to reflect light, but to actually glow. He relishes in making company feel uncomfortable, if he isn't just outright being cruel to them.It may be possible that he is actually a chaotic spirit entity in disguise, but who can say? Lily thinks he's simply a funny, but wonderful cat.Vehicles:Black VW Eos: While this car is useful for anything, including just getting to work, she especially enjoys taking it out for a drive in the countryside, or even just on the Autobahn, with the roof down and the wind blowing across her. The faster the better, in her mind, and she enjoys putting her driving skills to the test when she can.Black BMW K1300S: A sports-touring bike that is good for getting to work in the city or for long drives during good weather. She is quite fond of it, and will take any excuse to ride it when she can. She particularly seems to like the way it makes her feel like a "sexy" female spy from a movie. She does have an extra helmet for it as well, as she's more than eager to show it off in any way possible, including by having a passenger experience the thrill with her.Light Green and White Trabant P50: She can't drive it around anymore (well, she could, but it would cause a whole host of problems), but she has kept it in storage, as she can't bring herself to give it up entirely. She keeps it well maintained, and does occasionally bring it out to any nearby Trabi shows. She was one of the first to get the car, and, though it may not compare to the VW she uses today, it's still her pride and joy, if only for the Ostalgie feeling.

About: Welcome, fellow humanoid! I am the mun behind this blog. You can see my name and basic facts on the side there. I've been writing this blog for 10 years now, and I guess I'm still sticking around for the time being. Unlike my muse, I'm pretty laid back and friendly. I'm always happy to have a conversation with anyone who'd like one. I like to read, draw, play games, stare into the abyss, you know, the usual. I just finished a second degree in animation and will be focusing on trying to achieve my dreams. Things may get rather busy between work and learning more animation skills. But since I just can't let this commie chick go, I'll still come by to rp when I can. I guess it's just my current drug of choice. Feel free to drop me a message anytime! :)
